The facility will be established with an estimated cost of 450 crore rupeesas part of a joint venture (JV) with a Chinese company.
It will have production capacity of two million phones per month that includes feature (basic) as well as smart phones, which will be the focus of the facility.
The facility which is expected to be operational by December 2016 is in addition to the already existing two assembly units located in Bengaluru and Noida.
At present, the New Delhi based company is India’s fourth largest smart phone player with an annual turnover of 4300 crore rupees during the financial year 2014-15.
It has 85000 retail outlets and serves its customers through 900 service centres.
